Just the concept of a perfect first date can throw us into a panic mode, as we put so much worry on ourselves. The fear of being rejected is strong in nearly all of us, and if things do not go okay on that first meeting, then we consider it as a failure, our failure. We need to be able to acknowledge that we will never get on flawlessly with absolutely every person in the world, this is normal, so recognize it, and move on without feeling like a failure.
We are inclined to look at our first dates as a means to demonstrate to the community how fantastic we are, and this sometimes comes across desperately. So take a few deep breathes, quit or at least reduce, the concerns about going on a date, and as an alternative try to enjoy getting to know the other individual.

A snack or a beverage can work well, but keep in mind that you do not have to go all out and spend a month's wages on this first meeting, no matter how much you want to impress. There is plenty of time for top quality restaurants when you know for sure that your connection is going somewhere.
Choose a hassle-free pursuit, like a wander around the downtown core, provided the weather conditions are likely to be good for this. Be certain you have an alternative in mind just in case the weather becomes really poor - arriving with dripping hair, tends not to make a good first impression! Stay serene and unstressed as much as possible, remembering that there are countless more folks out there that you could easily have a first date with. This is not a life threatening event!
